Ariel was in last week for the two hour Artist’s Choice session. Hard to take a bad picture of this girl – as Prince once said, “she’s got the look.” These are two of my favorites.A_Amy_pod1A_Amy_pod2

Rowan and his Mom and Dad live next door to our son and his wife in St. Paul. They were in need of some six month photos and Kate had been wanting to make lasagna, so we invited everyone down. (the lasagna batch is too much for the two of us to eat) Rowan came with a bunch of outfits and this chair that an uncle had made for him. We had the other props in the basement from our Limited Edition “Day at the Shore” promotion so we added them in.  Rowan was great and pretty much smiled all day!!

Amanda’s session ended up being split because of inclement weather on the day of her oiginal session. We finished up her outdoor images yesterday and were glad we waited – much nicer day. Couldn’t decide between these two – one from my favorite spot and one from the “Risma” spot. Several years we photographed a guy from Mayo I believe – his last name was Risma – Mom bought a wall portrait from a pose in this spot. Couple of years later we photographed younger brother – in the same spot. It’s a popular location and any time Kate needs to communicate to me that a senior wants to be photographed in this spot – we just refer to it as “the Risma spot”.

Steven was in this morning for the first half of a split session. He wants the beard and Mom doesn’t!!;-) So today we did his outside stuff around town. Since we had extra time we tried some new spots. I’ve walked by this staircase numerous times always foregoing it to instead use the one with the ivy vines behind it. This is a great spot for that grungy look. The hat, the shirt and the iPod all lend to the quality of the image. Thanks Steven!

Mandi was in yesterday. A pretty girl and we got lots of good stuff. This one was taken in one of my favorite new spots at the Plummer House. It’s a retaining wall that faces the front of the house and the sun is usually reflecting off the stucco creating beautiful lighting.

Max has been pictured on this blog before and this is a sample of his Baby Panel with images from 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. He’s a happy little guy and has changed quite a bit in the last 12 months.

Jackie was in on Monday and we got lots of great images. Late afternoon at the Plummer House is a great time for garden images and about the only time the flowers in the lower garden are not in bright sunlight. I broke the rules and had Jackie step carefully behind this bunch of Black Eyed Susans. She held her hands like this on her own and it was the perfect pose. Professional photographers devote hours learning how to pose hands naturally – I could not have done it this well on purpose. Thanks Jackie – one of my favorite images this summer.

I’ve been photographing Brittney for a few years as she is a gymnast and we do those team pictures each year. She had lots of fun outfits for her Artist’s Choice two hour session and this image is at the Plummer House. Could easily have been done in the studio on a black background but it’s in a doorway at the back of the house. I think her eyes really pop on this image complimented by her beautiful skin tone.

Kevin was in on Monday for the Basic indoors only session. He’s a cello player (obviously) and has been stand partners with David Fullem (pictured in an earlier post) since the sixth grade. This image is similar to one of David’s except I changed the camera angle and the lighting to give more of a profile look. Normally I’d do this in black and white but I like the color here as well.

Xander was in yesterday for his Senior’s Choice session. Here’s one of my favorites from his “alley” images.
